In 1984, the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum opened in Nakayamate, Kobe City with the goal of not only collecting and conserving vanishing carpentry tools as cultural heritage, but to also pass along carpentry knowledge to future generations through further research and exhibitions.
Thanks to your support, we are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year, 10 years after moving to our new location associated with Takenaka Corporation near Shin-Kobe Station in the fall of 2014. Over the years, we have regularly held special exhibitions, lectures, seminars, workshops, and other events unique to our museum, and welcomed many visitors, from young children to the elderly, not only from Japan, but the world.
With its 40th anniversary, the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum is taking new steps forward, aiming to become a museum with even greater appeal. So, come and stop by to enjoy a wide variety of experiences. We sincerely hope to see you soon!
